Howl\u2019s Moving Castle<\/em> is often touted as a favorite Studio Ghibli movie for many. Ever since its first release in 2004, this fantasy romance film has stolen the hearts of its viewers \u2014 and continues to be relevant today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s by far one of the most thrilling Studio Ghibli films to see on the big screen, and while everyone has their own personal favorites, fans can\u2019t help but wonder when Howl\u2019s Moving Castle <\/em>will finally be coming back to theaters. Those seeing the film in English will be greeted by the return of Christian Bale\u2019s voice acting, while the original Japanese film featuring Takuya Kimura as Howl will also be revisiting theaters in the U.S. (with English subtitles).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, when is this much-anticipated film returning to theaters? You\u2019ll have to wait until September 20th to see it on the big screen again yourself. That\u2019s when the English dub officially premieres, at which point you\u2019ll have until September 24th to catch it. On September 22nd to the 23rd is when the Japanese dub with English subs will be available to watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Studio Ghibli Fest follows a relatively steady runtime from year to year, which means that most films stick usually return the same month (or close to it) every year. Summer-related movies like My Neighbor Totoro <\/em>or Ponyo <\/em>will usually be available to watch in the middle of summer, while the rest of the Studio Ghibli films will wait until late summer or fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Howl\u2019s Moving Castle <\/em>typically hits theaters in September or early October of each year. This makes it one of the last films in the festival to come to theaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, this year will also feature The Boy and the Heron<\/em>, the latest release from Studio Ghibli to hit theaters in 2023. Though it hasn\u2019t yet reached cult classic status, fans were excited to see the return of a new Studio Ghibli movie, and its feature in the 2025 Studio Ghibli Fest shows a lot of promise.
